Projeto Festa das Nações

Para muitas pessoas, os Jogos Olímpicos são apenas esportes praticados com uma só intenção: ganhar medalhas. Mas a verdadeira intenção das Olimpíadas é unir nações e promover a harmonia entre os povos, como a bandeira olímpica representa. A Olimpíada é um evento esportivo universal liderado pelo Comitê Olímpico Internacional (COI). Uma de suas metas é contribuir para a paz mundial, a amizade e a colaboração entre os povos de todo o mundo.

Os alunos do Ensino Médio do Colégio John Wesley estão participando do Projeto Festa das Nações e esse blog foi criado com o resultado da pesquisa interdisciplinar direcionada para a importância social, política e econômica dos Jogos Olímpicos na Era Moderna, temática essa tão presente em nosso cotidiano em função da realização das Olimpíadas 2016.

About the Olympics

The 1988 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXIV Olympiad were an international multi-sport event celebrated from 17 September to 2 October 1988 in Seoul, South Korea. They were the second summer Olympic Games to be held in Asia and the first since the 1964 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. It was also the first Olympic Games to be held in mainland Asia and the fourth Olympic Games to be held in autumn. The 1988 Games were the second to be held in a developing country, after the 1968 Games in Mexico.

In the Seoul Games, 159 nations were represented by a total of 8,391 athletes: 6,197 men and 2,194 women. 263 events were held and 27,221 volunteers helped to prepare the Olympics. 11,331 media (4,978 written press and 6,353 broadcasters) showed the Games all over the world
